Bowen Hills railway station

Bowen Hills railway station is a railway station in Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Queensland Rail City network, located in Zone 1 of the TransLink integrated public transport system.

The station is a major junction and branching point for the northern lines of the network.

History

In October 1904, Archibald Kerr, a 16 year old boy fell from a moving train near Bowen Hills station, the boy died from the injury to the back of his head caused by the fall. At the time the train driver was not aware of the event until he was told about it by the signalman on the train's return journey at Fortitude Valley station (formerly Brunswick Street). The train gate was blamed as the cause of the accident at first, but after the gate was found to be in working order the cause of the accident wasn't known.^[1]

• Gold Coast Line – inter-urban express services to Varsity Lakes
• Cleveland Line – all stations and peak hour express services to Cleveland

Platforms 2

• Ferny Grove Line – all stations and peak hour express services to Ferny Grove
• Airport Line – Airtrain service to Brisbane International and Domestic terminals.
• Nambour and Gympie North Line – inter-urban express services to Gympie North
• Shorncliffe Line – all stations and peak hour express services to Shorncliffe
• Doomben Line – all stations services to Doomben

Platform 3

• Ipswich and Rosewood Line – all stations and peak hour express services to Ipswich and Rosewood (outside of peak times, connecting Rosewood trains depart from Ipswich)
• Springfield Line – all station services to Richlands
• Exhibition Line – services to Exhibition via Roma Street (during special events only)

Platform 4

• Caboolture Line – all stations and peak hour express services to Caboolture
• Nambour and Gympie North Line – Interurban express services to Nambour (additional off-peak bus and train services may depart from Caboolture)
